Dusk On Fredonia Mountain
A
cold wintery rain fell on the mountain almost all day yesterday. It
was a typical overcast wintery day, but near dusk, the clouds fell
low from the sky, descended through the tops of the trees, and slowly
settled onto the freshly thawed ground in Greenfields. I sat in my
jeep, silently listening with the windows rolled down, and felt a cold
chill as the winter breeze blew through the open windows. It was getting
dark, and I was all alone. I watched the shadows of the trees change
with each whisp of fog as it drifted through the woods. Several times
I thought there was a shape standing among the trees, staring at me.
Although it only took a fraction of a second to glance into the rear
view mirror, when I looked back into the distant fog, they were there....
