Dunlap is a small, yet big enough town where your everyday needs can be met. There are grocery stores, five pharmacies—Walgreens just completed a store, there is a Wal-Mart, an Ace Hardware, Smith’s Building Supply, and doctors, dentist and optometrists! There are some wonderful family owned restaurants—one of them is so good that people from all over the region dine there! If you cannot find what you need in Dunlap, just 35 minutes from the Fredonia Mountain Nature Resort, you will find the second largest regional mall--Northgate Mall-- with many of the big department stores and many specialty stores. Additionally, there are a number of movie theaters, a Home Depot, a Lowe’s, another Wal-Mart, a Super Target and all of the major sit down restaurants such as Longhorn Steakhouse, Ruby Tuesday’s , Panera Bread, Olive Garden, IHOP, Outback Steakhouse and on and on. So, as you can see, if it is not in the town of Dunlap, it is not too far away for you to access and enjoy!
Additionally, downtown Chattanooga is less than an hour away. There are many wonderful restaurants, The Tennessee Aquarium, an IMAX Theatre, The Tennessee River and river walk…and you can catch a symphony or an off Broadway play if you like! There is really too much to mention here but, Chattanooga is a great asset to our area and a plus for anyone living in our mountain community.
If you are an outdoor enthusiast, our region has it all. Of course, we have fishing, hiking and biking, and our numerous Nature Parks to explore within The Resort, but we also have access to many other outdoor activities nearby. If you want to jump off of a perfectly good mountain, you can hang glide just outside of Dunlap or on top of Lookout Mountain, where people come from all over the world to launch their gliders. There are two trout streams just over an hour’s drive from here, 5 to 7 golf courses within an hour’s drive, plus two very challenging golf courses are only 30 minutes away. There is also plenty of hunting and fishing throughout the region.
Fall Creek Falls State Park, a premier Tennessee State Park, is 30 minutes away, with cabins for family outings, trails to enjoy and an Inn for overnight stays. Savage Gulf Recreational Area is also close to our community with more trails and nature to explore. There are really too many activities to highlight, but the point is--there is a lot to see and do in our area, plus Atlanta, Nashville and Knoxville are only two hours away! All great for day shopping too!

The Sequatchie Chamber of Commerce

Planned development includes a 110-acre Industrial park just north of Highway 111 on U.S. 127. This site will provide excellent venue and is just minutes to major ports for water, rail, or air in nearby Chattanooga.

Modern industry and manufacturing of small gasoline engines, batteries, zippers, tubing, archery products and customized foam products provide a strong economic base and work for the community. Dunlap CourthouseLocal industrial support services include tool and die, sheet metal, lubricants, and welding.
Dunlap city government is comprised of a mayor and elected commission. County government consists of an elected County Executive and a commission representing the different districts. Both City and County provide fire and police protection and have organized development committees that oversee economic growth and urban expansion.
Hospitals and Medical Facilities
The North Valley Medical Plaza provides 24-hour emergency and air transport to major hospitals in Chattanooga. Local physician care for orthopedics, pediatrics, and general practice are readily available.
The Sequatchie County School System is a unified district governed by nine publicly elected board members and a Director of Schools. A State Vocational Technical Training Center offers credit courses, adult education and training, and cooperative program for high school seniors. Chattanooga State Sequatchie, a branch of Chattanooga State Technical Community College, is leading the way in providing Sequatchie and Bledsoe County residents the education and job skills they need to compete in an increasingly technical workplace. Both students and local employers benefit from the programs offered at the site.
